The maverick music producer HAL WILLNER brings his golden Rolodex and
singular genius for curating multi-artist concept shows to the music of the
Civil Rights Movement. Commissioned for Celebrate Brooklyn!, this concert
celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides, which integrated the
interstate bus system and helped bring America¹s and the world¹s attention
to the deprivations of the segregated South. In what promises to be an
unforgettable event, Willner will convene his usual surprising and eclectic
array of musicians, actors, and other artists‹established and emerging,
famous and infamous‹to perform songs that inspired, illuminated, and sprang
from the tumultuous aftermath of the Movement. The evening begins with a
pre-performance artists discussion. Performers subject to change.

RundgrenRadio update News

Just a few quick updates to share with you ...

*Rundgren Radio TR's Musical Camp Counselor Series aired last night with special guests Pete Fornatale and Chris Andersen! The archive can be heard at http://rundgrenradio.blogspot.com .

Chris Andersen announced some exclusive scoop on the show about webcasts from Todd's Musical Survival Camp. Info is available at http://www.toddrundgrencamp.com .

*Todd will be on the David Letterman Show tonight! We've been told he will just be with Paul and the band and will not be performing one of his songs in its entirety.

*Todd's summer tour begins next week at the Bearsville Theatre on June 23rd in Woodstock, NY. Here's what we know about these shows ...

There will be 3 sets. First one is electric, second one is acoustic (with the band not just Todd), and the third is another electric set that is supposed to be even more upbeat than the first. It appears they will not be doing any songs from the upcoming reProduction album and the setlist will be oldies which some venues have dubbed "Best Of". The band is Todd, Jesse Gress, Kasim Sulton, Prairie Prince, and John Ferenzik. Some of the smaller venue shows are already sold out --- YMCA Bolton in Long Island, Rams Head in Annapolis, Havana in New Hope PA, and Infinity Hall in Norfolk CT. If you have any spare tickets for these shows please let us know at doug@rundrenradio.com because we do know some true Todd fans that are looking for tickets and they are not scalpers so rest assured your tickets would be going into the right hands!

*Todd will be in Amsterdam on 9/24 at the Paradiso performing with an orchestra and that show is also sold out. They are looking to do some shows overseas but they would be with the summer band not the orchestra. Nothing has been announced yet and it's not a lock by any means but they do want to do some shows if the offers come in.

*Todd's Musical Survival Camp starts Monday --- http://www.toddstore.com/trsurvivalcamp/index.html

*The CD Todd Rundgren's Johnson is now available. Amazon.com or deepdiscount.com should have copies.

*In case you missed the news, Todd decided he wanted to take a break from the big production type shows this year so we will not be doing anything with Todd in Akron in 2011. You can read Todd's take on it in this interview ...

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/todd-rundgren-interview/

For those of you that might be interested, we are still doing something in Akron on Labor Day weekend to include a party at the hotel on 9/3 (details coming soon) and a concert on 9/4 featuring headliner Rick Springfield with special guest openers The Motels, and Kasim Sulton. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster. The concert is being promoted by our new company, Onward Promotions, and you won't see any Rundgren Radio presents anywhere on this one. If you have any interest in joining us and some other Todd fans for this concert, please let us know as we have blocked an area in the LOGE for us all to sit together.

*CONTEST! Win a black XL RundgrenRadio.com logo t-shirt in our "Pick The Setlist" Contest! The shirt is made from organic materials and is super nice looking. Send 20 song names that you think will be a part of the summer tour setlist to mel@rundgrenradio.com and the person that selects the most that actually end up on the setlist will win the prize. We will do a hat draw if we have a tie-breaker. If you don't wear XL or don't want the shirt we will come up with a comparable replacement prize for you. Deadline is June 22nd!

Have a great week!

TODDFEST WEST announced

Hi all--

Yippee! It's almost time for TFW!

First the basics:

What: ToddFest/West
When: Sat, 8/20/11 starting at 1pm
Where: Lanette's lovely home in Concord, CA
Theme: All the Children Sing!

It's never to soon or late to RSVP -- however if you should RSVP by
8/1/11 if you'd like a personalized laminate. Pls send name you'd
like listed along with a song title.

As usual, this will be a relaxed day of communing with other Todd
fans. Bring food, drinks, smiles, memorabilia, stories, instruments
or whatever else. People of all ages are welcome -- Lanette has two
kids, a dog, a piano and a sunny yard with hot tub and kiddie pool.
BTW, TFW is a drug-free zone.

We are hoping to resurrect the jam session this year! Let us know if
you're a musical type and would like to connect with others in advance
to figure out a few tunes to perform. Or for us all to sing along
with! It would be fun to have something like this come together in
advance, but if not just bring your instruments and let's see what
sort of jam session unfolds that day!

We are also planning for Todd karaoke!

Let us know if you are coming from out of town and need lodging
suggestions. We will investigate local options if this is needed.

If you don't have a car, let us know and we can arrange BART pick up
and/or ride-sharing options.

Feel free to send any questions, comments or suggestions.

Look forward to seeing you soon! :)
